Terrible system. People are helpful when you call and annoy them, but other than that good luck getting responses in a timely manner.
The people are nice when you call, but getting a permit is incredibly difficult. They seem very unorganized.
Quite possibly the worst example of your tax money at work. Inspection times are not complied with and inspectors routinely claim code compliance issues without even getting on the roof to inspect. And the office is filled with the average government worker’s ethic. Just today I called to check on a permit status. As the clock rolled over to 4:30, Diane literally stopped me mid sentence to tell me that it was now 4:30 and I would have to call back in the morning. What I was asking for would have maybe kept her another 75 seconds, literally.
