I love walmart. Great prices, great staff, neighborhood walmart is small, but the self checkout lady is always over your shoulder like I am stealing or something or guilty. Trust me I work hard and pit a lot of money into walmart. Tell the lady at the self check out to take a chill pill geez
To put it terms that might be more relatable to more people - it's kinda like, I don't mind answering what my dog's name & breed are, but I don't want to explain how he is different than similar breeds, talk about his training - where, how, with who, for how long, etc.
Usually short lines, hours changed to 6 A.M. to Midnight I believe, good variety and very close to my home. I get get my items and get through the self checkout in less than 5 minutes. I do miss this thing being 24 hours so they lose a star for that.
It's location is very convenient and I am thrilled we have it. A fast place to pick up a much needed item. This place has saved me when I was missing an ingredient for a dish I was preparing. You can get pretty much anything from grocery to medication.
It's like... I understand they weren't intending to be odd or rude with me, but they definitely made me a lot more uncomfortable than I expressed outwardly. One compliment, then ignoring my Service Dog, works just fine. (OR asking me the 2 legally allowed Service Dog questions a business may ask, then complimenting my dog, then ignoring him.)
Real convenient. Extremely good prices on milk and eggs and very competitive on most items.
I imagine that might be kind of how it would feel to compliment a customer's well-behaving child, then asking how old, where they're from, in what grade the child is, where does she go to school, who are her teachers, does she play sports, & how is she different than "American" kids... or something.
They had everything I needed on my short list, staff was friendly, but I couldn't get in & out quickly because multiple staff members took such an avid (positive) & obsessive interest in my Service Dog that my service was delayed & I feel like the staff essentially ignored other people, including the lady in front of me who hadn't even finished unloading her items onto the conveyer belt yet, let alone even began the payment transactional portion, then essentially did the same thing to the gentleman behind me in line - because they were focused on asking me curiosity (not discriminating) questions about my Service Dog. I found that awkward & uncomfortable & was polite, but gave short & quick replies to hint that I wasn't there to do breed education & talk about my medical equipment. This turned what could have been a 10 minute in & out situation into about a 35 minute endeavor because it was multiple, individual employees asking me (again, curiosity-based) questions through out the store & at the entrance & exit both going in & leaving. I generally don't mind a couple comments or questions, especially genuine ones and those meant in a friendly or conversational way... but I was really uncomfortable with that many employees talking to me for extended periods of time & basically ignoring other customers... which also inadvertently added even more uncomfortable attention to me because then shoppers were watching my working dog & listening to the conversations.
